Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Background and History
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is more than simply acupuncture; it is a vast system of integrated arts and sciences. When forming a diagnosis, I look at the whole patient, and take physical, emotional, dietary and lifestyle factors into consideration. In addition to acupuncture treatment and herbal medicine, I give counsel on nutrition and exercise. TCM is heavily rooted in the elements, herbology and nutrition. It looks at an imbalance as an excess or a deficiency. Diagnosis is based on pillars of practice handed down for thousands of years. It has microsystems, it has adjunct therapies like Shiatsu and Tuina massage and it treats the spirit specifically.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a noninvasive medical treatment that has evolved into a complete holistic health care system, helping millions of people become well and stay well. Acupuncture is ideal for a wide range of physical and emotional ailments. I use acupuncture in treating patients to alleviate pain, whether from back pain, headache, migraine, or any other condition which produces discomfort.
Acupuncture promotes natural healing, and is really ideal for overall health maintenance and well-being. Many of my patients find that regular treatments helps to maintain balanced energy, contribute to weight loss, decrease stress, and increase overall feelings of happiness and well-being. It can enhance recuperative power and immunity, support physical and emotional health, and improve overall function. It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical conditions.
Auricular Acupuncture
Auricular acupuncture is a type of auriculotherapy, which describes an acupuncture treatment that's limited to your ears. In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is based on the theory that your health depends on the flow of energy (Qi) in your body. Traditional acupuncture does this by targeting points found in the ear.
Auricular acupuncture is helpful in addressing a range of health concerns including chronic pain (especially low back pain), headache, anxiety, insomnia, cancer pain and chemotherapy side effects, substance use disorder, depression and allergies. Every major organ in the human body, and many health conditions, including imbalance issues with blood and Qi, have corresponding access points on the human ear.
Ear Seeds
Ear seeds play a role in auricular acupuncture, a needle-free acupressure technique focusing on specific pressure points in the ear. These minuscule, noninvasive objects are positioned on corresponding acupressure points and affixed to the ear's surface using tape. Individuals employ ear seeds to address various conditions such as addiction, anxiety, pain, emotional trauma, and depression. Offering a cost-effective and less time-consuming alternative to acupuncture needles, ear seed treatments provide an effective option for patients seeking relief.
