Who We Are?

Raven-Joyce Harley D.O.M.

My approach using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is guided by the pillars of practice established for centuries. After experiencing my own health issues, I was lucky enough to meet some wonderful masters. After years of being a TCM patient, it became clear that I needed to know more. I founded my business Rhizome Health, on my conviction to help others in the ways I had been helped by this medicine. I assess and treat the root cause(s) of a condition applying meridian theory, microsystem acupuncture and herbology.

Doctors of Oriental Medicine have added schooling for the purpose of prescribing herbs. I was pursuing nursing earlier in life. I had a pre-med background but was dissatisfied with that direction, which made my transition into TCM deeply personal. It became clear that my natural approach to living, eating, and wellness was more in line with all the lessons I had learned from my personal D.O.M.'s all those years ago.

Much of my clinical hours have involved treating diabetes, mental health issues, trauma, pain management, AIDS, amputees, exploited children, PTSD and neurologic disorders. During the COVID pandemic, I treated asthma, COPD and other lung conditions. I provide services for the Department of Veteran Affairs for veterans suffering a wide variety of issues including environmental toxins, from fire pits and Agent Orange, and other war related injuries. I have been practicing in these areas since 2012.

I feel honored to listen and observe and learn from my patients. I find my profession satisfying and rewarding. I feel fulfilled by my practice because it is something I love.

My Philosophy

My personal philosophy guides my treatments. and merges into how I treat my patients. While attaining my Masters in Oriental Medicine I worked extensively in community clinics and rural areas of the Southwest reaching marginalized areas and indigenous people. My areas of concentration were addiction, trauma amputees, exploited children and pain management and addiction. I deeply appreciated my experience in touching so many lives. It has deepened my awareness and commitment to the principals I choose to live by.

I am committed to:

  • Do no harm
  • Do what befits my patient.
  • Show gratitude and respect to others
  • To learn is to evolve
  • Create joy in every moment whenever possible. With gratitude, optimism is sustainable.
  • Nothing in extremes, find moderation in one's life.

It’s gratifying to see my patients recover and regain their health, in a myriad of ways. Many have experienced improved mobility, less pain, better vitality and many other benefits.

A mortar and pestle with a flower on it.

If you are motivated by living well and want to increase your vitality, I will help you with your health concerns and together we can rectify the imbalances.
